Bushchan leaves Dynamo Kyiv: emotional farewell to the goalkeeper

Dynamo Kyiv goalkeeper and Ukraine’s national team goalkeeper Heorhiy Bushchan has said an emotional farewell to Dynamo Kyiv and its fans. He posted the relevant post on Instagram, Komersant ukrainskyi reports
The day before, Dynamo Kyiv announced that goalkeeper Heorhiy Bushchan had left the team and joined Saudi Arabian side Al-Shabab.
“The local Al Shabab held successful negotiations with our club on the transfer of Bushchan. The goalkeeper passed a medical examination in Riyadh, agreed on the details of a personal contract and signed a 2.5-year agreement,” the club said in a statement.
The Saudi team also announced the transfer of the Ukrainian goalkeeper.
It should be noted that Al-Shabab plays in the elite division of Saudi Arabia.
According to transfermarkt, the Saudi club paid 3 million euros for Bushchan.
The goalkeeper, who has been with the club for almost 16 years, addressed the fans with an emotional message in which he admitted that it was incredibly difficult for him to leave the team.
“My hometown club, my hometown fans…” – Bushchan began his farewell with these words.
He emphasized that Dynamo had become a second family for him, and that the fans were his true friends.
“It is very difficult to find words to describe what I feel now. My heart is breaking at the thought of leaving my home. The team that has become my family. The fans who have become my friends,” the goalkeeper wrote.
Bushchan thanked everyone who was there for him during his career at Dynamo, from coaches and teammates to fans who supported him in the most difficult moments.
“I remember every day at the club, every person who was there for me and supported me in difficult moments. I would not have become the footballer you know without the help of my team, management and fans,” he emphasized.
The goalkeeper admitted that despite his departure, he will always remain a part of the club, as Dynamo is forever in his heart.
“I am not here without you, and I will always be a part of you. Because we are a family,” Bushchan added emotionally.

“I’m leaving with my head held high”
The goalkeeper noted that 16 years with the team had flown by very quickly, and he remembers his first day at the club as well as his last.
“Together with you, it’s time for us to move on. I am leaving with my head held high, knowing that I did everything for the sake of the diamond on my heart,” he emphasized.
Bushchan also expressed confidence that his successors will be able to maintain the high level of Dynamo.
“I am leaving knowing that a worthy replacement has grown up to support me, who will maintain the standard we have set,” the goalkeeper wrote.
He also mentioned the Ukrainian defenders who are fighting for Ukraine’s freedom, including those who were his friends, but unfortunately will no longer be able to hear his words:
“I believe that many of my friends, fans, and heroes who are defending Ukraine will return home with victory. Although, unfortunately, I will not be able to say this to many of them…”
In conclusion, Georgiy Bushchan emotionally confessed his love for the club and the capital.

What goalkeeper Heorhii Bushchan is known for
the 30-year-old goalkeeper has spent his entire professional career at Dynamo Kyiv, starting with the children’s academy. As a member of Dynamo, he won the Ukrainian championship, the Cup twice and the Super Cup of Ukraine three times, played in the Champions League and the Europa League.
This season, he played 27 matches for Dynamo in all competitions, and a total of 181 matches in his career.
Due to his success and reliable play for the capital’s club, he was invited to the national team of Ukraine. He made his debut for the national team on October 7, 2020, in a friendly match between France and Ukraine. In total, he played 18 matches for the Blue and Yellows, participated in the final tournaments of Euro 2020 (5 matches) and Euro 2024 (was in the application, did not play).
