The British tested a powerful and super-cheap laser weapon

The UK Ministry of Defence has successfully tested a new laser directed energy weapon (LDEW) system called DragonFire, the with reference to the British government website. It is a high-powered and highly accurate laser weapon firing against airborne targets, according to British officials.
DragonFire is a British technology that delivers a powerful laser over long distances, and does so very accurately. In particular, according to the developers, the laser can hit a coin from a distance of 1 km.
This weapon can hit targets at the speed of light and use an intense beam of light to cut through the target, resulting in structural damage or more impressive results if the laser hits a warhead.
At the same time, the cost of a 10-second laser operation is equivalent to using a conventional heater for an hour. Thus, it has the potential to be a long-term low-cost alternative for certain tasks currently performed by missiles. After all, the cost of operating the laser would be less than £10 per shot, i.e. less than 500 UAH.
It is also reported that
“The Ministry of Defence recently announced its intention to fund a multi-million pound programme to bring the technology from the research environment to the battlefield.”
So we can hope that the Armed Forces will soon test this weapon.
