The brother of the US Vice President fought for Ukraine and is ready to tell him the whole truth

The cousin of US Vice President J.D. Vance, Nate Vance, has been fighting for Ukraine as part of the Da Vinci Wolves battalion since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion. In January 2025, the man returned to the United States. This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to an exclusive article by Le Figaro, Komersant ukrainskyi reports.
Nate Vance says that in 2022, when Russia launched a large-scale invasion, he realized that this war was different from all the others.
“I wanted to help in some way, with logistics or medical support. I saw history being written before my eyes, and I wanted to be a part of it,” Nate Vance told Le Figaro.
In March 2022, he arrived in Lviv, where he met a British volunteer who was looking for people with military experience.
Nate Vance himself had military experience, having served in the U.S. Marines for four years. A few weeks later, when a group of Ukrainian volunteers invited him to go to the front with them, he agreed,” the newspaper writes.
It is reported that the 47-year-old Texan was in Ukraine for three years, two and a half of which he spent at the front. Nate Vance took part in the battles for Kupiansk, Bakhmut, Avdiivka, and Pokrovsk.
In early January 2025, the soldier returned to the United States, before the inauguration of his cousin J.D. Vance.
Nate Vance also told the publication about his reaction to the conflict between Zelensky, Trump and Vance.
“When Nate heard his cousin JD Vance ‘attack’ Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in the Oval Office of the White House, he was furious,” Le Figaro writes.
“JD is a good, smart guy,” Nate Vance explains. “When he criticized the aid to Ukraine, I thought it was because he had to please a certain constituency, that it was a political game. But what they did to Zelensky (Trump and Vance – ed.) was an ambush, with absolute bad faith. Just because I’m your relative doesn’t mean I’m going to stand by and watch you kill my comrades. I was disappointed. When JD justified his distrust of Zelensky with the “reports” he had seen, I thought I was going to choke. I could have told him the truth, without pretense, without vested interest. He never tried to find out more,” Nate Vance told Le Figaro.
He said he tried to contact his brother several times and even left a message at Vice President Vance’s office. However, Nate Vance did not receive a response.
By the way, on March 4, in an interview with Fox News, US Vice President J.D. Vance tried to explain the circumstances of the dispute between Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelenskyy that arose in the White House.
According to him, it all started when Vance’s answer to a journalist’s question “threw” the Ukrainian president off balance.
“I really think there was just a certain feeling… there was a lack of respect,” Vance said in an interview with Fox News.
The US vice president stressed that he tried to defuse the situation and offered Trump to have a conversation with Zelensky in private, but Trump said he no longer wanted to do it privately, but wanted to have this real conversation in public for the American people to see.
J.D. Vance believes that Volodymyr Zelenskyy demonstrated in the Oval Office a clear unwillingness to participate in the peace process.
As you know, on March 4, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy posted a message on social network X in which he emphasized that Ukraine is committed to peace and is ready to work with US President Donald Trump to achieve it.
He also admitted that the meeting in Washington, D.C., at the White House, did not go as planned.
“It is a shame that this happened. It’s time to do the right thing. We would like our cooperation and communication to be constructive in the future,” the Ukrainian President emphasized.
He expressed his readiness to work quickly to end the war and suggested that the first steps could be the release of prisoners, an immediate ceasefire in the sky and an immediate ceasefire at sea if Russia does the same.
