Andrei Smirnov’s brother is unofficially employed by the UAF and receives his salary in cash

The security service of the Ukrainian Association of Football (UAF) employs a person involved in the investigation of journalist Mykhaylo Tkach – the brother of the former deputy head of the OP, Andriy Smirnov Igor. This became known from the joint broadcast of YouTube-project BurBuzz sports journalists Igor Burbas and Vladimir Kramar, reports Komersant ukrainskyi .

Thus, Igor Burbas recalled that two years ago, UP journalist Mykhailo Tkach released an investigation about Andrei Smirnov and his brother Igor, where he highlighted the probable facts of illegal enrichment. Smirnov has now actually “appeared in court on suspicion of illegal enrichment in the amount of 15 UAH”.

“His brother (Andrei Smirnov’s brother Igor, – ed.) also appears in the investigation Tkach, he at underestimated prices somewhere around 80 percent bought up real estate in Lviv. And this is the real estate, which is associated with Hryhoriy Kozlovskiy.

Again, Smirnov himself is also associated with Grigory Kozlovsky, because Kozlovsky himself did not hide that Smirnov lived in his “Emele Resort” when the war began.

Andrei Smirnov’s brother Igor is now the head of the security department of the UAF. This is how he was introduced to the UAF employees, although he does not work there officially. But every day he is at work and uses a company car “BMW” from sponsors,” – said the journalist.

The broadcast also showed a photo where Andrei Smirnov and his brother Igor are photographed together, allegedly with UAF official Oleg Boriznyuk.

“There are even photos where they (Smirnov and brother) are walking around on the Internet together. It seems to me that this is just when Andriy Smirnov uses his Lviv connections and employs his brother in the UAF. And in the photo next to them is Oleg Boryznyuk, this is the man who since May 2 last year is the head of the security department of the UAF with a salary of 75 thousand hryvnias. And evil tongues say that Igor Smirnov receives his salary unofficially, in cash. […] I also think that for Michael Tkach this is an interesting story and interesting information for new investigations”, – said Igor Burbas.

Recall, in February 2023, Michael Tkach published an investigation, from which it became known that the brother of the already former deputy head of the OP Smirnov “during the war acquired elite property with huge discounts”.

In particular, it was pointed out that“parking space in Kiev, the cost of which is approximately $20 thousand, Smirnov purchased for 60 thousand UAH”, and “apartments with an area of 100 square meters in the residential complex “Avalon-37″ for 1 million 162 thousand 807 UAH, while the market value of such housing varies within 6 million UAH”.

NABU, reacting to the data published by the UP, opened criminal proceedings against Andrei Smirnov.

In 2024, NABU and SAP announced suspicion of the ex-deputy head of the Office of the President in the illegal enrichment of 15.7 million hryvnia. VAKS then elected Andriy Smirnov measure of restraint in the form of 10 million hryvnias of bail, which he made.

The case on charges of Smirnov in unlawful enrichment NABU is preparing to take to court.

At the end of last year, “Law and Business” called the former deputy head of the Office of the President Andriy Smirnov “a record-breaker among domestic officials in the number of border crossings with the Russian Federation” .

TheUkrainian Association of Football (called the Football Federation of Ukraine, FFU until May 2019) is an all-Ukrainian public independent sports organization founded on December 13, 1991. The UAF has been a member of UEFA and FIFA since 1992.

Since January 25, 2024, the UAF has been headed by Andriy Shevchenko.
