In his draft budget request for fiscal year 2026, US President Donald Trump will ask Congress to allocate $1.01 trillion for national security, which is 13% more than this year.

Bloomberg writes about this, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

According to the publication, the draft envisages $557 billion for non-defense spending next year, which is $163 billion less than the current level.

National security funding is proposed to be increased by 13% to $1.01 trillion.

The record defense budget provides for funding for the Golden Dome missile defense project, shipbuilding, and nuclear energy modernization, as well as for border security.

It also provides for a 3.8% increase in military salaries.

Trump proposes to cut domestic spending by 22.6%. It is planned to reduce environmental protection and renewable energy programs, as well as programs aimed at addressing racial inequality.

The Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Energy are expected to face significant cuts.

Foreign aid and diversity and inclusion programs are also planned to be canceled or significantly reduced. In particular, Trump proposes to cut funding for the National Science Foundation by $5.2 billion.

Federal block grants are expected to be canceled or consolidated, with additional significant cuts to the Department of Education, which Trump is seeking to eliminate, as well as the National Institutes of Health and the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

The U.S. Institute of Peace will be closed, as will the Minority Business Development Agency and the Community Development Financial Institutions Fund.
