Businessman Mazepa pays UAH 21 million bail and is released from pre-trial detention centre

Ihor Mazepa, a businessman and founder of the investment company Concorde Capital, who is accused of illegal privatisation of land near the Kyiv hydroelectric power station, was released from jail after posting UAH 21 million bail, the комерсант with reference to the law firm EQUITY.

“Ihor Mazepa was released from the pre-trial detention centre after paying the bail set by the appellate court,”

– the statement said.

Mazepa’slawyer, Taras Poshyvanyuk, said in a comment toSuspilne that the bail was paid by one of the companies that is part of the Concorde Capital group.

on 23 January, the Kyiv Court of Appeal partially upheld the appeal filed by Mazepa’s lawyers, reducing the bail from UAH 349 million to UAH 21 million and extending his detention until 27 February 2024.

Mazepa was detained by the State Bureau of Investigation on 18 January while crossing the Ukrainian-Polish border. The next day, the SBI confirmed his detention.

He is suspected of misappropriating land plots in the Kyiv region, which, according to the case file, were illegally privatised. According to the charges, he appropriated the land where the hydraulic structures of the Kyiv HPP are located to build the Goodlife Park luxury residential complex in the Vyshgorod district. The complex is 40 hectares in size and includes a yacht club, a mini-hotel, a restaurant, a children’s park, sports grounds and a fitness centre.
