The business proposes to introduce a localized air raid warning system. The authorities are already testing it

Stoppages in production and operations of companies due to air raids are a serious challenge for business in Ukraine: the current air raid warning system applies simultaneously to the entire territory of the region and this generalized approach often leads to unjustified work stoppages even if there is no immediate threat in the area where the company is located. This is stated in an official letter of appeal from the European Business Association to the First Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Economy of Ukraine and Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Komersant ukrainskyi reports.
According to the EBA member companies, downtime at enterprises can reach up to 50% of working hours. This leads to disruptions in production plans and increased operating costs, undermining export capacity and the stability of supply volumes.
Business representatives believe that the introduction of a localized warning system based on a risk-based approach will allow to limit warnings to areas of real risk and will contribute to the continuity of business processes. Ultimately, this will improve the stable operation of enterprises, compliance with production plans and strengthen the financial stability of companies.
At the same time, EBA member companies realize that human safety has always been and remains a top priority, and emphasize the importance for businesses to responsibly follow the recommendations of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine on organizing work during air alerts.
In an official letter, the European Business Association proposes to consider the possibility of introducing a targeted alert system and develop a solution that will take into account the interests of business and society in a balanced manner, promote stable operations of enterprises, while maintaining a focus on employee safety.

Ukraine has already started testing a new alert system
Testing of the new system began on January 10 in Cherkasy region. According to Ihor Taburets, head of the Cherkasy Regional Military Administration, the main idea of the changes is to raise an alarm in case of danger from UAVs not throughout the region, but only in the area where there is a real danger. Moreover, the changes concern only the danger from enemy UAVs. In the case of a missile threat, everything should remain the same and the alert should be announced throughout the region.
on January 23, testing of the new air threat warning system began in Zhytomyr region. As Vitaliy Bunechko, head of the Zhytomyr Regional Military Administration, explained, the main difference from the usual mode of operation is the possibility of announcing an air alert separately for districts when, according to the Air Force, the potential threat at a particular moment does not apply to the entire territory of the region.
In early January, the Ministry of Internal Affairs confirmed the start of testing of the new air alert system. In a comment to BBC Ukraine, Interior Ministry spokeswoman Mariana Reva said that the testing of the new system would last for a week, and if it proves to be successful, it will be introduced in a working mode and possibly extended to the entire territory of Ukraine.
