More than half of Ukrainians believe that the state’s economic policy is being implemented in the interests of big business. This is evidenced by the results of a sociological survey conducted by the Razumkov Center from September 20 to 26, reports Komersant ukrainskyi

Quality of life

When asked about the quality of their own life, 44% of respondents said they try to buy the cheapest possible food, regardless of its quality. Instead, 45% of respondents said they could afford to buy better quality but more expensive food. Another 11% of respondents could not give a clear answer to this question.

The study also showed that since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the share of citizens who are barely making ends meet has increased – 12% of them compared to 9% in 2021.

Only 16% of the population consider their level of well-being to be “good” or “very good.”

(In)equality

The majority of Ukrainian citizens believe that the government’s socio-economic policy is primarily aimed at supporting big business and the wealthy. This is the opinion of 54% of respondents.

In contrast, only 13% believe that this policy is aimed at supporting low-income groups and people who are unable to work.

Only 10% of respondents believe that the government is focused on the development and support of the middle class.

In addition, the overwhelming majority of Ukrainians (75%) believe that the country lacks real equality of citizens before the law. And only 16% of respondents believe that such equality mostly or completely exists in Ukraine.

In general, the survey results show that the majority of Ukrainian citizens perceive socio-economic policy as aimed at supporting the wealthy and not ensuring equality of opportunities for all citizens.
