7 February 2024 09:46
MP Mariana Bezuhla said that the head of the Servant of the People party, Olena Shulyak, had granted her request to be expelled from the party, according to
“The head of the party, Olena Shulyak, granted my application to leave the Servant of the People party. I was a member of the Political Council of the party, the head of the National Security and Defence Committee in the Political Council, a member of the Political Council of the Kyiv branch, responsible for the entire Obolon district and, in particular, for the party office in Obolon. Not bad positions, lots of opportunities,”
– Bezuhla said.
However, according to Bezuhla, the Servant of the People did not respond to her attempts to prove that “we need to get out of the green clouds of 2019” and “change the format”.
“Because all my attempts to prove that the party needs to get out of the green clouds of 2019, change its format, positioning, declassify data on warring party members (and there are many of them), pay attention to the ideological component and the risks of regional collaborationism, corruption, etc. were ignored. And my fight with Tyshchenko is a separate story. I succeeded and was expelled. Ugh…. Then Shuliak supported me, I admit it,”
– she added.
Bezuhla noted that “Servant of the People” is “not a terrible party” and there are many “normal managers, and hundreds of interesting people among the party members”.
“In short, almost nothing is happening in the party, everyone is on their own, and no matter how much the chairwoman Olena Shulyak polishes the picture, it will not help the cause. It’s like throwing confetti in your face to cover up a hollow space… Still, I think Servant of the People is not a terrible party. It has many good managers, and there are hundreds of interesting people in the party. There is a lot that could be developed. And Shulyak is not hopeless. But the party now exists by inertia and without the leadership’s desire to develop.” This is also felt by people in the regions, which does not contribute to positive dynamics,”
– said the MP.
The MP said that despite leaving Volodymyr Zelenskyi’s party, she would continue to support him.
“For my part, I will continue to make efforts to make the truth and consciousness more and more. I support the President,”
– Bezuhla wrote.
Earlier, a draft resolution to dismiss Mariana Be zuhla from the post of Deputy Head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defence and Intelligence was submitted to the Verkhovna Rada on 6 February. However, Bezuhla was never dismissed .
Bezuhla appealed to the leadership of the Verkhovna Rada to read out an official notice of her resignation.
The Bezuhla scandal
The situation with Bezuhla’s resignation arose after a resolution was introduced to recall her from the post of Deputy Chair of the Committee on National Security, Defence and Intelligence.
Bezuhla is known for her criticism of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valeriy Zaluzhnyi. Back in November, she stated that Ukraine’s military leadership “must go” because the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valeriy Zaluzhnyi, allegedly “failed to provide a plan for 2024”. Amid rumours of the Commander-in-Chief’s dismissal, the MP resorted to accusations of alcohol abuse and blackmail.
on 5 January, the Verkhovna Rada’s National Security Committee, chaired by her colleague from the Servant of the People faction, Zavitnevych, decided to recall Bezuhla from her position as deputy chair of the Committee.
Bezuhla stated that she did not need a weak faction and party in a time of war. on 11 January, the MP submitted a letter of resignation from the Servant of the People party and faction. The Verkhovna Rada officially adopted this statement on 12 January. At the same time, Bezuhla noted that she would continue to support the president’s initiatives, but did not want to have any joint obligations with the faction’s MPs, “who are stabbing her in the back.”
