The construction of fortifications and preparation of a circular defense of the cities of Izyum and Balakliya continues in Kharkiv region. This was announced by the head of the Regional Military Administration, Oleh Syniehubov, during a telethon, Komersant ukrainskyi reports.

Sinehubov said that these are planned measures that are currently being taken to take into account the actual front line, possibly its change in the direction of the enemy’s movement and, in principle, its priorities on the front line.

“So, of course, the next step is the construction of fortifications, a circular defense of the city of Balakliya and the city of Izyum,” explained Syniehubov.

Some of the work is being done by the military, the official added.

“I can’t communicate at what stage, let’s just say that the administration is fulfilling its tasks. However, of course, some of the work is being done by the military. I will only say that the work there is going according to plan and is fully controlled by our military,” noted Sinegubov.

Earlier, various local media outlets reported that the defense of the towns of Izyum and Balakliya in Kharkiv region was being strengthened. In particular, on December 26, Sinegubov noted that these areas are of strategic importance, and their fortification is a key element in ensuring the security of the region. In particular, this will increase the level of protection of the local population and deter possible threats.
