The Specialised Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office has submitted to court an indictment against Servant of the People deputy Vladislav Trubitsyn on charges of taking a multimillion-dollar bribe. This was reported by Komersant ukrainskyi with reference to the SAPO.
The prosecutor’s office did not specify the name of the deputy, but according to media reports, it is a Kyiv City Council deputy from the Servant of the People party, Vladislav Trubitsyn.
“The SAPO prosecutor, based on the materials of the NABU pre-trial investigation, sent an indictment to the court accusing a deputy of the Kyiv City Council (chairman of one of the permanent commissions of the Kyiv City Council) of receiving UAH 1.39 million in undue advantage. on 14 June 2024, under the procedural supervision of SAPO prosecutors, detectives served the person a notice of suspicion in absentia under Part 4 of Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine,” the prosecutor’s office said.
In addition, his assistant and a close associate were served with a notice of suspicion.
According to the investigation, in early 2021, Kyiv City Council deputy Trubitsyn, with the assistance of his assistant Artem Bilinsky and a close associate, Ilya Lifa, asked a citizen of Ukraine to provide an undue benefit in the amount of $30,000. In return for this money, the politician was to take actions to appoint a specific person to the position of deputy director of the Zhytniy Market, and later to the position of director.
Trubitsyn faces up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property, the report says.
On 9 February 2022, the NABU detained Trubitsyn and his assistant. On the same day, the Specialised Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office notified the MP of suspicion of bribery (prosecutors say they caught him receiving UAH 1.39 million in undue advantage). on 11 February, the High Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine arrested Trubitsyn with an alternative of UAH 14.9 million bail. on 16 February, the High Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine reported that the MP had been granted bail.
on 12 February, the High Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine imposed a pre-trial restraint in the form of detention with an alternative to bail on four other defendants in the case.
on 30 May 2023, the SAPO press service reported that prosecutors had filed a motion with the court to put Trubitsyn on the international wanted list, who had twice missed court hearings. “The investigation established that the accused crossed the border of Ukraine on 13 May this year. The whereabouts of the accused are currently unknown,” the SAPO said.
On the same day, the Servant of the People announced that it was revoking Trubitsyn’s mandate and had already expelled him from the party and the Kyiv City Council faction.
