Andriy Shevchenko elected as new UAF president

Today, on 25th January, the UAF Congress took place in the House of Football in Kyiv, the main issue on the agenda of which was the election of a new head of the Association, informs .
Andriy Shevchenko became the head. He was the only candidate. Shevchenko replaced the head of the UAF Andriy Pavelko, who is in Lviv pre-trial detention centre.
“For” the candidacy of Shevchenko voted 93 delegates of the Congress.

About Shevchenko
Andriy Shevchenko worked as the head coach of the national team of Ukraine after finishing his football career. After the end of his contract, he was also the head coach of Italian side Genoa, although only for two months.
In November 2022, Shevchenko was elected vice-president of the NOC of Ukraine, but the next day he announced his resignation from the organisation due to the election of pro-Russian MPs Nestor Shufrych and Hryhoriy Surkis. (Also today, Hryhoriy Surkis attended the UAF Congress and warmly supported Shevchenko’s election while speaking to the press).
In September 2023 Andriy Shevchenko became a freelance adviser to the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky.
