Local Government Day in Ukraine
The holiday is intended to celebrate the role of local self-government in the development of democracy and democratization of society.
On this day in 1990, the Verkhovna Rada of the then Ukrainian SSR adopted the Law on Local Self-Government. But its celebration was proposed and supported by the President of Ukraine in 2000.
In October 1985, European states approved the Charter of Local Self-Government, which became the basis of its classical model. For Ukraine, the document was very important because this institution had been banned in the country for 70 years. Despite the many problems that appeared on the way, in 1997 the Charter was ratified in Ukraine and became part of the national legislation.
International Civil Aviation Day
The holiday was established by the UN General Assembly in 1996. International and national organizations and airlines from different countries join the event.
It was on December 7 that the International Civil Aviation Convention was signed.
The holiday aims to recognize the hard work of aviators who provide flights around the clock, as well as the high professionalism that this work requires.
World Ukrainian Headscarf Day
The holiday unites Ukrainian women to preserve and develop Ukrainian national traditions. The holiday was first celebrated in 2019, when millions of women posted photos of themselves wearing traditional Ukrainian headscarves.
The first headscarves worn by Ukrainian women were pure white. Colored patterns came to us from Turkey. Now some brands are bringing back the fashion for headscarves and including them in their collections.
Women’s gatherings, photos and videos, master classes and training on how to weave and embroider headscarves are organized for the holiday.
