International Day to End Impunity for Crimes against Journalists
on December 18, 2013, at its 68th session, the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution proclaiming November 2 as the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes against Journalists.
The date was chosen in memory of the two French journalists killed in Mali on November 2, 2013.
The resolution condemns acts of violence against journalists and media workers. It also calls on UN member states to do everything possible to prevent violence and bring to justice those responsible for crimes against journalists.
The Day of All the Dead Faithful

Michael’s Saturday
on November 2, Orthodox believers celebrate St. Michael’s Saturday. Traditionally, it is honored on the eve of the great feast of the Cathedral of the Archangel Michael, which, according to the new church calendar of the OCU, is celebrated on November 8, not November 21.
Traditionally, on St. Michael’s Saturday, people go to church to pray for their deceased loved ones, hold a “memorial service” and visit cemeteries.
People believe that today, before sunset, you need to apologize to those who may have offended you – then many problems will disappear from your life.
What is the church holiday today?
The Orthodox holiday of November 2 according to the new church calendar (November 15 according to the old one) is the day of remembrance of the saints Akindyn, Pigasius, Anempodist and seven thousand martyrs who died for their faith in Christ.
Aquindinus, Pigasius, and Anempodistus, courtiers of the Persian king Sapor II (310-381), were secret Christians. When the king began to persecute Christians, envious people reported them to him. Summoned for trial before the king, the holy martyrs fearlessly confessed their faith in the Holy Trinity. The king ordered them to be whipped.
Twice the tired executioners were replaced, but the holy martyrs did not give up a cry or a groan. Even the king could not stand the strain and fainted. Everyone thought he was dead, but the saints called out to God and the king regained consciousness.
Seeing the miracles performed through the prayers of the holy martyrs, many believed in Christ and professed their faith.
The next day, the martyrs were burned, along with seven thousand martyrs who died for their faith in Christ.
