10 regions at risk: 23 deaths from flu and COVID-19 in a week

Over the past week, 23 people have died in Ukraine from complications of influenza and coronavirus. This was reported by the Ministry of Health on its Telegram channel, Komersant ukrainskyi reports

According to official data, the deaths were registered:

  • Four deaths from complications of COVID-19.
  • 19 deaths due to flu complications.

The Ministry of Health notes that none of the deceased had been vaccinated against influenza or coronavirus.

Incidence of influenza, COVID-19 and ARVI in Ukraine

Over the past week, 201,700 people fell ill with influenza, COVID-19 and ARVI in Ukraine, 108,375 of them children. This is 16% less than the previous week, indicating a gradual decline in the incidence.

6,176 people were hospitalized, including 2,609 adults and 3,567 children.

Which regions have the highest incidence?

In Ukraine, influenza viruses are circulating in 21 regions, and the epidemic threshold has been exceeded in 10 regions. The most critical situation is in:

  • Kyiv region
  • Lviv region
  • Ivano-Frankivsk region
  • Odesa region

Overall, since the beginning of the epidemic season (October 2024 – March 2025), 3,703,067 people have been infected with SARS. This is 4.9% less than in the same period in the previous season.

Why does the situation remain dangerous?

Despite the decrease in the number of new cases, the mortality rate from influenza and COVID-19 remains high. Doctors emphasize that the main cause of complications is the lack of vaccination, late visit to the doctor and ignoring preventive measures.

How to protect yourself from influenza and COVID-19?

The Ministry of Health recommends the following measures:

  • Get vaccinated against influenza and COVID-19.
  • Maintain hand hygiene and wear masks in public places.
  • In case of the first symptoms of the disease, consult a doctor.
  • Observe the isolation regime in case of SARS symptoms.
